City Color Contour Effects Palette

Everyone seems to be coming out with contour palettes these days; not that I'm complaining as I love a good contour. I'm happy to see affordable options cropping up although some leave a lot to be desired. I bought the City Color Contour palette on a whim (it was one of those items you add last minute to get free shipping). I can honestly say for the price of this palette - $6.83, to be exact - the product is surprisingly good quality. The colors are perfect for contour and are super buttery. The only downside is it can be quite powdery, but because it is so soft it's really easily blended out. Just make sure to dab your brush lightly to avoid fallout as much as possible.

The palette comes with a contour, bronze, and highlight shade. I love the how-to guide on the packaging; if you're not going to provide a mirror, might as well put some useful information on the lid. The pans are also really big in this palette so this will last for quite a while.

I love the contour shade - it's not cool toned but it's also not orange at all. It's really the perfect dark, matte brown for contouring. The bronze is nice without adding shimmer, which is something different from most of my other bronzers. The highlight is a really pretty white highlight which is great for contouring.

The product is so buttery soft it blends really easily. The highlight is super pretty blended out, it gives a nice soft glow to the cheek bones.

I am definitely loving this palette (especially for the price!). Have you ever tried anything from the City Color line before?

  6. I have not tried this brand before and to be quite honest, I've never heard of a contouring palette before! I love learning about makeup from you Kim! I would definitely need the how to instructions on the label, but it looks like it would be fun to play around with. I hope you have a lovely rest of your week!

  7. I really want to try out contouring but like Rainbow, I'm so scared that I'll only end up looking like I've been rolling around in mud haha. I guess I'll never know until I try right? :D I'll have to see if I can get my hands on a contour palette soon :) I tried using a dark brown eye show once but that didn't end so well (and by once I mean yesterday haha.) I'll have to look up some youtube videos to learn. Great Review :D
