Current At-Home Workout

Since my hubby and I are cyclists, we decided instead of trying to find a gym whose hours worked with ours, was reasonably priced, and actually trying to get ourselves there to work out, we would invest in a spin bike. My hubby researched for weeks (as he does before all purchases) and decided the best one for us at this time (and level) would be the Sunny Health and Fitness Pro Indoor Cycling Bike. We bought ours here. As far as spin bikes go, this one was fairly affordable and was intense enough to be a good starter bike. The only problem? I'd never taken a spin class in my life and didn't have the faintest clue how to use one.

Initially, I started out trying to use it like a normal bike. There are two issues with this: a) It doesn't shift like a normal bike would so it was hard to move it to different levels (gears) as well as the fact that I was biking on a flat terrain having to "pretend" like I was coming to a hill and b) I'm basically a wuss so aforementioned fake hills never happened. I was talking to one of my teammates who is a ridiculously good rider and he mentioned that he had the same spin bike and that there were a few spin videos on Youtube he really liked. This immensely changed how I used my spin bike and now it's actually a beneficial piece of equipment. The best part? Since I do it at home I can work out anytime, anywhere, and in any weather. I do this particular video below, but they have many, many videos for all different levels of training.

This is a 20-minute spin video and it is intense, so be warned, especially if you're just getting back into working out like I am. They do 40 and 60-minute classes as well but let's be honest, I'm nowhere near being able to move up yet!

Tell me, what's your favorite way to work out?

  1. Oh my goodness, it's one of those things where I think I'm in shape, but once I tried something like that I'll bet it would kick my butt! You keep up the hard work girl, you've got to be one toned mama!! Hope my pretty friend has an awesome Thursday!!

    1. It's crazy to me that you can be so great at something (for me, it's yoga) and think that means you're in shape, but you do a different workout that uses different muscles and it's like you've never worked out in your life before haha! I could stand to be a little more toned, but I am getting there ;) Thanks for stopping in my lovely friend, hope you've had a wonderful week! XO -Kim

  3. I have never tried a spin class before, but something makes me think that it would be way too intense for me! I don't work out regularly and count walking my dog as my main form of exercise! It's great that you were able to locate useful YouTube videos to help you with this. I love the wealth of information available on YouTube!

    1. It is really really intense. I guess it doesn't have to be in that you kind of control how heavy the intensity is, but I feel like I guilt myself into making it hard hahaha. Walking your dog is the BEST form of exercise, it's the only form I'll do when I finally get one! My hubby and I joke all the time that anyone can be anything now that Youtube has a video for everything. The other day I was even a mechanic ;) Thanks for stopping in beautiful lady, I hope you're having a great week!

    1. That's the hard thing about having workout equipment, it takes up a lot of room! Our dining area is already cluttered with bikes so I gave up my hope of having a proper dining table years ago! So we just keep it in there. I love ellipticals as well, they are my favorite when I go to a gym! Thanks for stopping in gorgeous! XO -Kim
