"Strength is pushing yourself to the end of your limits...and then going a little further." I had a yoga instructor tell me that once, and I often think of that statement when I find myself facing a tough physical challenge. This was our first bike ride of the season and it was the longest one we've ever ridden. I'll admit right now that we hadn't trained at all. Basically I'm still in couch potato mode and this ride snuck up on me really quickly. Needless to say, we finished the entire 65 mile ride, despite the fact that it was raining, I wrecked 11 miles in and we had more headwind then I've ever encountered in my entire life.
I am so thankful to the amazing, supportive people in my life! To our amazing best friend Liz who dropped us off at the starting line, my wonderful best friend Sash who drove all the way to Ogden to get pictures of us finishing, to my family who covered for me at the coffee shop so I could do the ride and to my partner in crime and the best, most supportive riding partner a girl could have, my amazing hubby who rode all 65 miles with me and helped push me those last few miles. It was a great weekend and hopefully the start of a lot of rides this season. I hope everyone had an amazing weekend as well! XO

DeleteI know someone at work who does these types of rides and I am always amazed at how long they are! 65 miles is quite the physical test and it sounds like the weather wasn't the best either. However, you made it! Love the gorgeous pictures of your adventure!
ReplyDeleteThat is what I find so amazing, that we actually made it! I never thought we wouldn't until we were actually riding, then I don't know how we finished but we did haha. Thank you so much Katie, you're so sweet! XO - Kim
