I mean, we've all been to that hotel that has sheets so soft you never want to get out of bed, but I never thought to extend that kind of comfort to my own home. Personally I've never had too much trouble getting out of bed in the morning, but after trying these sheets I'm definitely struggling to leave the comfort of my own bed!

What makes these sheets so luxurious? Well, each set is a lend of Supima Cotton and + Tencil Fibers. In layman's terms: the softest feeling sheets you will ever experience in your life! Aside from the comfort factor, my other favorite feature is that the sheets have a fitted grip at the bottom so your sheets never pop off your bed, something I'm definitely fond of. Nothing is worse than trying to settle in for a good night sleep then having to re-position your sheets! The fitted grip makes it so your sheets are always in place!

Maybe the biggest perk of all of this is that your sheets come with a 3-year warranty. WHAT?! I know, I didn't even know such a thing existed, but it's true. These sheets are truly luxurious and have the warranty to back that claim up! On top of that every sheet you purchase includes free shipping, and we all know how much I love to shop online so free shipping is a must for me. I promise you guys, these sheets are worth every single penny and you will not regret trying them for yourself!
They had a few different colors to choose from, but I chose the Dove Grey option as I feel like it goes with all my other sets and is such a pretty color. Each set includes 2 pillow cases, fitted sheet, and flat sheet, up to a King size.
March's favorites were admittedly not the funnest (I was sick for a couple of weeks) but they are definitely still favorites! Leave me a comment and let me know what you're loving this month. I know everyone is on the oil train, but for good reason. I've had these for quite a while and while I have a diffuser, that's not my favorite way to use these. While I was sick, I loved putting a few drops of the peppermint and tea tree oils around my shower drain and when I took a shower, it was like a minty spa. It definitely cleared up my sinuses and gave me some relief. I recommend trying it, even if you're not sick, just for a relaxing spa-like shower.

I freaking love mascara primers. Seriously. I've used one for years and while I love the Lancome one, it is pricier and I go through these like crazy. This L'Oreal voluminous one is a great drugstore option. It's thick, it's lengthening, and it just gets the job done. If you love long, voluminous lashes, I recommend trying this out.

Over the last few months I've been using more natural lipsticks because they are just so quick and easy and always look put together. My first go-to this month is the e.l.f. Nicely Nude (bottom) lipstick. It's a nudey-pink color with some gold in it and just super pretty for everyday wear. My other (and all time) go-to is Kate's lipstick in the color 08 (top). It's a deep rosey pink and perfect for Springtime.

In my area it's quite hard to find and we only just got a CVS that stocks it, so now that it's more readily available I may be trying quite a lot from it if I actually like it! This is a total first impressions, meaning I just opened the package and swatched the products. I still have yet to use them on and see how they wear. I only purchased two products for the time being to see what I thought.
The first product I picked up was the Matte flat finish pigment gloss in the color Fleur. I was so interested in this particular color because I actually have nothing like it. It's a mix between a nude and a coral and it's super pretty. It's quite thick and it'll be interesting to see how it wears. I've never heard of a matte gloss so I'm hoping it will be comfortable to wear. I'll keep you updated on whether or not this worked for me but I do have high hopes and I'm super excited about this.

I also picked up the LA Girl Nudes palette. The packaging is thick cardboard, which seems like it will hold up well. There is a mirror which makes the lid quite heavy so it doesn't stay up on its own, which is kind of annoying. The swatches are not the most pigmented and I was slightly disappointed by this palette, but I haven't used it on my eyelids so I hope it translates differently. The color range is beautiful with the dark end being purples, which I really love.

The palette and matte lip were each $7.99 so super affordable. I'm hoping that the wear on these is really good because I love a great affordable brand!

Have you guys ever tried anything from LA Girl? If so, what's your favorite product? I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! XO

Not only is it more specific (i.e. anti-aging care and oil control), but I've really narrowed down the products I use instead of changing products all the time. I've finally found products that work for me and a routine that I actually enjoy doing. For so long I was trying the newest and latest and using products I didn't particularly love because I had them and wanted to use them up before buying something new. These days, I know what I like and that's what I buy and use, making it much easier for me to actually have a routine and stick to it.

Just a little info about my particular skin: I'm super oily. I don't just mean t-zone, I mean everywhere. No amount of primer has ever been able to make my makeup last all day, but I've found that with my skincare regime, I've been able to control it a lot more. I also have very large pores so a lot of my skincare routine is about cleansing and keeping my oils under control.

This Biore charcoal cleanser is my absolute favorite. I've used charcoal cleansers for the past few years as they really help control my oil and cleanse my skin, but this is by far my favorite one and since it's from the drugstore it's super affordable. I use it morning and evening. I use the St. Ives fresh skin apricot scrub a couple times a week to keep blackheads at bay and I really like it. It's also super cheap and you can get it at any drugstore.

I've used tons of toners over the years and while they all work pretty much the same, I really love this one from Burt's Bees. It has a nice fresh scent to it that makes it really nice to use. It's also quite cooling so I love it. I use it both morning and evening.

This Lancome advanced genifique concentrate is quite pricey, but I love the results. I use it after cleansing and toning and it helps even out my skin tone. I've definitely noticed it's helped my fine lines. I buy so much from Lancome that I have about a million samples of this, but it's definitely worth the money, in my opinion. I use it in the evening.

This instanatural age-defying eye cream is my favorite eye cream that I've ever used. First of all, it's huge as far as eye creams go so this will last me forever. Second, the ingredients are all natural and clean so I know exactly what I'm putting on my skin. It's super thick and creamy and I love how hydrating it makes my under eye area - it's definitely helped my dark circles. I use this in the evening only.

I use the Julep boost your radiance rosehip facial oil in the mornings and it's one of my favorites. It brightens my skin and makes makeup application so smooth. I was using another oil simply because I wanted to use it up and I hated it so I never looked forward to my morning routine. I finally decided that was ridiculous, so I tossed that oil and started using this one because I love the fresh scent and how bright it makes my skin. I use the Avalon Organics vitamin C oil on my face at night. I don't know if it's true, but I read that it's best to use vitamin C oil on the skin at night so your skin can get the most benefit. All I know is this makes my skin look super refreshed in the mornings. It's pricier, but still from the drugstore so it's easy to find.

I use the Olay complete face lotion with SPF 15 every morning and I have done for years. It's nice, it's light, it has SPF, and it's been my trusted day lotion for a very long time. I switch between the St. Ives Timeless skin lotion and the instanatural retinol moisturizer at night. I love the St. Ives one because it's so affordable and it's also super rich and nourishing. The instanatural retinol moisturizer really helps restore my skin's elasticity and is also really hydrating.

I use a clay face mask 3 times a week and when I don't use the mask I use my instanatural facial peel 3 nights a week. This seems like a lot, but as I said, I have super oily skin so this really works for me. Since I've done this routine and stuck to it, my skin has looked so much nicer and my oil really is under better control.

In total, my morning skincare routine takes about 15 minutes and my evening skincare routine takes about 30 minutes. I actually enjoy doing them both and really look forward to my skincare ritual, especially because I love the products I'm using.

Tell me, what do you guys use and do you have a routine you stick to? I hope you all have a great week ahead! XO

It's been a long time since I've done a tag and since I do love a good tag I thought I'd do an updated one. As always - If you do this tag leave me your link in the comments below (I'm nosy so I love to see what people answer to these questions!)

1. Are you named after anyone? My name is a family name from my mother's side. My middle name was my paternal grandmother's middle name but I changed it to my maiden name when I got married.

2. When was the last time you cried? If you read my post here, you'll know all of last year was a cry fest for me haha!

3. Do you have kids? No I do not.

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself? I think I would - Most of the time I am positive, I'm pretty fun to be around, and I am fiercely loyal.

5. Do you use sarcasm a lot? It's like a second language for me.

6. What's the first thing you notice about people? Their eyes and really nothing else. My friend was joking with me the other day because she had something stuck in her teeth and I didn't tell her because I didn't notice. I tend to look into people's eyes when they talk and don't notice much else.

7. What is your eye color? Brown.

8. Scary movie or happy endings? Both but if I have to choose scary movie all the way!

9. Favorite smells? Vanilla and coconut.

10. What's the furthest you've ever been from home? Mexico and I'm dying to go back!

11. Do you have any special talents? I guess you could say writing? Other than that I'm pretty basic haha!

12. Where were you born? Austin, Texas.

13. What are your hobbies? I love to read, travel, spend time with my family and *fingers crossed* hopefully I can say sewing after this year. I'm really trying to learn how to sew!

14. Do you have any pets? I grew up with dogs all my life but currently no pets. *Dog hungry!*

15. Do you have any siblings? I have an older brother and an older half brother.

16. What do you want to be when you grow up? I'm still figuring that one out - ultimately I just want to help people. That's my jam!

17. Who was your first best friend? A girl named Zooey in kindergarten.

18. How tall are you? 5'2 1/2"

19. Funniest moment throughout school? School was so long ago for me you guys ... I'm sure what I thought was horrifying then is actually funny now but I can't pinpoint a moment!

20. How many countries have you visited? Only 2, planning to change that!

21. What was your favorite/worst subject in high school? I always loved English and Art and was always terrible at Science. I really could never wrap my head around the concepts.

22. What is your favorite drink? Coffee. If I could just have a drip line of coffee straight to my veins my life would be complete.

23. What is your favorite perfume? It's so hard for me to pick a favorite anything but if I had to choose I'd say Lancome's La Vie Est Belle.

24. What sports do you play? I bike, if that's considered a sport ... Otherwise I've never been sporty.

25. Tell us one of your bad habits. I procrastinate. I've fully accepted that I just work better this way at this point, but no matter how much time I have to get something done, I never can do it until the last minute. It's like my brain won't function unless I only have an hour to do something. It's ridiculous.

Hopefully you guys found this fun to read, as I've always loved to learn more about the bloggers behind the blog! Remember to let me know if you do it so I can check it out!

Hope you guys have a wonderful week! We're leaving for California on Thursday so I'm definitely going to have a fun one! XO
If you follow me on Instagram you'll have seen my post about getting over the flu last week - I don't know about you guys, but I've met my quota of being sick for the year haha. If only that was how it works. Needless to say, I am feeling loads better, or at least enough to do this post on what I was loving in January.
I love this Shea lip butter from The Body Shop. I actually purchased the advent calendar half off during black Friday, so I got a ton of favorites from the brand, but this one was definitely at the top of that list. I don't think there is anything that works better for dry lips than these lip butters!

I have always loved the Vera Wang Princess scents - Rock Princess is one of the best night scents EVER - but I'm really loving this original roller ball one that's so easy to just stick in my purse for touch ups when I'm on the go. It's vanilla but not too sweet, which makes it a very "grown up" scent and one of my favorites!

Before my friend gave me this bellapierre cosmetics lipstick this brand wasn't even on my radar, but they totally should have been! You guys know my love of everything e.l.f. and despite owning pretty much everything they've ever made, I'd never tried this particular primer before now - and I really have no idea why. The Poreless Face primer is right up my alley. Since it contains tea tree oil it does wonders to control my oily skin and it really does shrink my pores. And since it's e.l.f. it's also super affordable.

I don't know if I've ever mentioned this ring before because for the longest time after I purchased it, I never really wore it. At the start of the month I dug it out of the back of my jewelry drawer and since then I've been wearing it nearly everyday. It's House of Harlow and the pretty green makes this the perfect statement piece for any outfit. When I want an extra punch I just slip this on and I'm good to go.

That does it for what I've been loving this last month. What about you guys, what have you been loving in January?

I hope you guys all have a lovely week ahead as we start this new month! XO

I'm the type of person who doesn't love heavy makeup. I mean I wear a lot of makeup, and I LOVE makeup, but if my skin is looking great, I don't want a full coverage foundation. When I was looking for a lighter option to simply even out my skin tone, I came across this Pixi H2O skin tint. I had never heard of a tinted face gel before and it sounded interesting, so I picked it up and ended up loving it!

First of all, the packaging is beautiful, as all Pixi packaging is. I loved the pump, it's one of my favorite features of this product, and I also love how much you get. And since this is a gel formula, a little product goes a very very long way.

It's boasted as a cooling and hydrating sheer tinted water-based gel. Apply as you would a moisturizer and pat into skin. And you really have to do that. It's so thin that any brush or sponge absorbs the product, so you do have to use your fingers. I don't mind, as the gel is the first thing I put on after moisturizer so my hands are clean, but if that bothers you, you might want to skip this. It is very light and cooling, this will definitely be my go-to skin tint on hot summer days. It offers just enough coverage to take out the redness from my skin and brighten my dull under eye area, but it is still light and lets your skin breathe.

The biggest downside to this is it only comes in like 3 colors. I chose the lightest color, 01, but I'm not the palest of people, if that gives you any idea of color range. I think you could use this if you were Ivory to Medium, but any lighter wouldn't work for you. It doesn't offer much darker either, so I could easily pick up the 02 when I'm tan, but that doesn't give much color range to the product. What's up with that Pixi? So while this does work for me, definitely test in store if you are worried it might not match!

Overall this is a great product for days you want your natural skin on display and is a great option for light coverage in the warm months.

Have you guys ever used a gel face tint before? If so, which one and did you like it?
Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead!

I've definitely tried to be more conscious about the products I'm using this last year, especially skincare. I've used the instanatural brand for quite some time and have tried a lot of different products and this one is definitely one of my favorites.

To be honest, I was quite afraid to try peels until recently. They always sounded scary, even though essentially they're just an exfoliant. When I saw this one from instanatural with ingredients I actually understood, I took the plunge and I have to say I love it.

Although you can do the peel up to three times a week I've started with just once a week. I've tried it three times and I have to say my skin looks fantastic. I do it on Sunday and my skin feels super refreshed for the week and my skin literally glows until my next application.

I love that it comes with a pump for easy application. It also comes with very specific and easy to understand instructions so even if you are a newbie and scared of peels like I was, it's super simple to follow and use (believe me, I would not try something overly complicated!)

If you are new to the land of peels and love natural ingredients, I'd say give this a try. Another plus is that it is super affordable - something I've always loved about this brand. Oftentimes the brand does a buy one get one half off or free, and that's when I stock up on their products. I'll leave the link below if you want to give it a go.

Let me know what other peels are good to try or if you've ever used a peel in your skincare routine!

*Warning: this post will be wordy, lengthy, and personal. If that's not your thing, feel free to leave now! You've been warned.

You guys know that I have always been very personal and real on my blog. There's no point in me having a blog if I can't look back and see the things I was really thinking and feeling. Therefore, it is my stance that I will always remember 2017 as the year I fell into a dark, deep pit and managed to claw my way back up, albeit very slowly and not without a lot of struggle.

As many of you know, I started a new career this year in real estate. I've never been one to shy away from change. I've always enjoyed experiencing new things and it's never bothered me that things change. That's life. I have to admit though, I struggled with my career change. After having worked in the same job with the same people for 10 years, I suddenly found myself in the position of not knowing my job. Being the low man on the totem pole. Having to learn everything from scratch. That in itself was a struggle. Add onto that the fact that my husband and I had never worked in a capacity where we were responsible for, or had to answer to each other. Sure, we'd met at work and essentially worked together our entire careers, but never for each other. There was a lot of fighting, a lot of crying (mostly on my part) and a lot of figuring out our new roles. I am very lucky to say that I have a great husband who was always willing to communicate, to compromise, and to just let me be an emotional wreck, which I was fairly often this year.

Add to the change the fact that I had lost a lot of the people that normally helped me through tough situations and it was the beginning of the spiral for me. It's no one's fault. People move on. People change. Our lives go on different paths and eventually I felt like my life was so separate from theirs that I didn't even know how to start that conversation. Around this time I was around a lot of negative people and I really felt like for the first time in a long time that I had lost myself. I didn't know what part I was playing in my career, in my friendships, or just life in general. I started feeling sad, worthless, and constantly exhausted for no particular reason.

Around this time I also started gaining weight. I was the heaviest I'd ever been in my life and that made me feel even worse. I didn't want to get out of bed and get dressed because I really didn't feel good about myself. I didn't feel like I was accomplishing anything or contributing anything at my job and I just felt all around not good. I was being negative all the time, which is not in my personality at all, but I couldn't figure out how to pull myself out. I could feel myself being an annoyance, a burden, and a pain to be around, but I really didn't know how to not be those things.

Another big change was that we sold our coffee shops. Now this was a long time coming as we had been trying to sell them for over a year, and it was something that really needed to happen. It was consuming way more of my time then I ever intended it to and it was making it difficult for me to really get into any sort of routine or schedule, or give 100% to my new career. Even though it was a good thing, it was still so bittersweet to me. I tried really hard to make sure we sold it to someone that would keep the same integrity and the same passion that we had. Sadly, that did not happen and within a few weeks I watched all the love and hard work I put into it go down the drain. I hope that the new owners will find their way and be successful, but it was really heartbreaking to watch my dream die.

This all sounds so melodramatic as I'm writing it, but at the time it's really how I felt. I knew rationally that I was being a little crazy, that I just needed to buck up and move forward, but depression is a funny thing. You know that nothing really life shattering is happening, but you feel like everything is falling apart. All the changes that happened was for the good, but I still couldn't feel happy about any of it.

All I can say is this: it does get better. I acknowledged that I was depressed, that no matter how silly it might seem to others, I had a right to feel the way that I did. And I stopped wallowing. I found that if I laid in bed and felt sorry for myself, it got so much worse. One day turned into two, turned into a week. Instead, I got myself up, got myself to work, and did the things I needed to do. I also started surrounding myself with positive people, who cared about me, let me talk, and were just there. We changed companies, which was very difficult but also really helped put me in a place that I needed to be. I talked, I cried, I allowed myself to feel what I felt, and now I'm starting over again. Reach out, get help, do what is best for you, but keep moving forward!

Thank you to all of you who reached out, who checked up on me, and who allowed me this time off. I love you, I'm here for you, and I am happy to be back! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and here's to making 2018 our best year yet!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14792882736980852181noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-254964934618445906.post-40780734525618712412017-04-03T06:44:00.001-07:002017-04-03T06:44:30.019-07:00March (2017) FavoritesMan, did March ever fly by in the blink of an eye! I turned 1 year older, had a pretty successful month, and accomplished a lot, so I'm definitely not complaining. As you will be able to see by my favorites, there was definitely an unintentional theme that happened and I'm not mad about it. Also, I can't believe all the beautiful days we had this past month. Summer, I'm ready for you!
Now you guys know I'm not usually one for high-end anything, usually because I can find something just as good as the pricey version, but I totally get why this mascara is so hyped. It's the Better Than Sex mascara by Too Faced. I know, enough said.
I'm literally wearing this gloss right now. I'm not much of a gloss person, but this one by Maybelline in Glistening Coral is super not sticky and gives the most beautiful, natural color to the lips. It gives that MLBB look that is so lovely this time of year!
These crystal and diamante earrings by House of Harlow have been my favorites for a long time, but I still cannot get enough of how simple yet beautiful they are. You can't tell by the photo, but they are actually rose gold and baby blue, which is such a soft, pretty combination. I've worn these a ton this month since they go with everything!
This Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait has been my other favorite lippie when I want a little more color but still want comfort. My lips have been so dry from our harsh winter here that I'm easing them into spring with a lot of comfortable lipsticks and the lip butter formula is one of the best for that.
I've talked about this Milani blush in Luminoso before, and if you are a beauty lover you know all about it, but I love the shimmery soft peachy pink color for the Spring. It pairs perfectly with pale skin and gives a beautiful glow.

I inadvertently gravitated towards all things coral this month, but what can I say, it's just all so pretty! What have you guys been loving this month? Happy Monday friends. XO

If you've ever suffered from dark under eye circles then you've probably tried countless under eye masks and treatments. All claim to brighten and tighten and while I haven't tried every mask under the sun, I have tried quite a few, and none have compared to the VII code 8 hour oxygen under eye mask. The first difference I noticed right away was that although these look like ordinary sheet masks, they actually have a thick gel texture on one side that is both soothing and cooling. The second difference I noticed to traditional sheet masks was that this mask is an 8 hour overnight treatment, so you sleep with it on and wake up with a brighter under eye area. The gel sticks to the surface of your skin so they stay in place comfortably while you sleep. The box comes with 5 masks and you wear them 2 to 3 times a week. 3 boxes is a full treatment cycle. These masks really work and once I completed a treatment cycle I noticed my under eye area was much brighter. I've only been through one treatment cycle but I can honestly say these eye masks worked wonders. You can order these online at http://www.viicode.com/index.php/oxygen-eye-mask/ or search their site for other great products at http://www.viicode.com.

Mineral Blush Collection

Every day since about the beginning of the year I've been reaching for one of these e.l.f. mineral blushes. I've had them in my collection forever and have used them off and on but lately I've been really gravitating towards them for 2 simple reasons : They're easy to apply and they look so soft and pretty for Spring. Not to say that these blushes aren't pigmented, but they blend out so beautifully because they are so finely milled that you almost can't go wrong with them. When you're in a hurry (or even if you're not but just want that soft look) these are super easy and beautiful on the cheek. I wish the swatches did these justice but they just don't compare to how beautiful these are in real life. Even though they are on the pricier side of the e.l.f. collection, they still only run $5, which is just such a steal.

Clockwork from top left: Wanderlust, Jet Setter, Sweet Retreat, Baked Peach (technically a bronzer), and Cabo Cabana

Wanderlust: This berry toned blush is the darkest of the bunch, it's got a little bit of shimmer to it but again, since it's so finely milled it really just gives a nice glow. I love this in the cold weather months or when I'm doing a berry look all around.
Jet Setter: This is a mix between Wanderlust and Sweet Retreat, it's a berry peach and very unique - I have nothing else like this in my collection and I love it. It's one of the more matte blushes in the collection and it gives a nice flush to the cheeks.
Sweet Retreat: This one is the lightest of the bunch and also a matte. It's just a really pretty peachy pink color that looks perfect on those no makeup, makeup days. It's definitely one I reach for when I want something quick and easy.
Baked Peach - This one is technically a bronzer but I've loved just sweeping it all over the cheeks for a nice golden glow and it definitely adds some beautiful color and bronze when I don't really want to bother with multiple products. It's on the shimmery side so it makes a nice blush.
Cabo Cabana - This is the coral of the group, it's quite shimmery and such a perfect transition shade into summer. I love the look of this with a nude or coral lip and it's definitely been one of my favorites of the group.
Have you guys tried the e.l.f. mineral blushes before? Do you love them as much as I do? I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Man, what a year this has been! I know, it's only the start of the year, but I have seen more transitions in these few months then I have in the last few years of my life. As I transitioned into my new job I felt so many emotions - scared to start something new, excited to be on a new adventure, unsure, unsteady, and sad. Sad to be leaving the people I've known for a good part of my adult life. As I made my transition, as through all hard things in life, my true friends really showed themselves through their understanding, support, and love. I am grateful to the friends who have stuck by me, showed me they still loved me, and checked in on me constantly knowing that I was struggling to make this change!

I am so grateful to have made so many new friends as I've started my new journey in life; people who accepted me with open arms, made me feel welcome, helped me with patience and kindness as I continue to gain the knowledge and skills in this new career. I am so grateful to be working with such kind people and to be able to do it with my best friend by my side!

I'm also so grateful to my blog family - all my blog friends who kept checking back even though I hadn't posted in well over a month, and when I finally did post were back with kind comments and support across my spectrum of social medias. You guys are amazing, and the reason why I really wanted to make it back to my blog, even amid the chaos that is my life currently! I sure am grateful for all of you who take the time to make me feel loved!

I hope all my friends, old and new, have a wonderful, love-filled weekend! This is what I was loving last month!

Witch Hazel - This is getting down to the basics for skin care but witch hazel is good for so many things, not the least it's a perfect astringent for my oily skin. I noticed that it really helped keep my pores in check and it's super duper affordable. It's not the most pleasant smell but it doesn't linger either so I'll happily deal with it for the results.

Nicel Revive + Renew Cream - Another super affordable product, I've had this in my stash for quite a while but just started using it and I love it. The Alpha Hydroxy has really helped clear up some breakouts I was experiencing this month and the aloe is really soothing. It's such a great combo and I'm really enjoying using this at night.

Acure Day Cream - I've had this sample for a while and when I was looking for a new day cream this one really stuck out. It's got all kinds of interesting ingredients like Gotu Kola Stem Cell and Chlorella Growth Factor... weird, I know, but this cream is so luxurious feeling and does a good job of brightening my skin. I also love the citrusy smell it has. This was a large sample and is only about half way gone since a little goes a really long way.

I've heard so much hype around the Katy Perry Matte Lipsticks from Covergirl that I had to try one and I am really happy I did. I picked this up in the color Catoure and it is the perfect everyday nude pink shade - and I have literally been wearing it every single day. It's such an easy, no fuss formula and it wears really well. I'm resisting going out and buying the entire collection, I like it that much.

You guys know that I am a huge fan of Lavender, both the smell and the flavor, and this month I am all about the lavender lattes. It's slightly fruity and goes so nicely in an iced latte, and with the warmer weather coming I am anticipating loving this drink for the next few months.

I generally never do single product reviews on a lipstick because I'm fairly simple; I either like it or I don't. I can write a few words about the formula and the color and then I'm basically done. This particular lip product by Hard Candy had a whole lot going on, so I felt like I had a lot more to say.

Let's start with the packaging: almost my favorite part of any product if I'm being honest. I am always drawn to cute packaging and this one was no exception. The pretty floral tin makes it great to give as a small gift and the mirror inside is genius for on the go application - which you'll need a lot of, but more on that later. It's quite bulky, but the concept is cute and I like the idea of not getting rogue lip color all over my handbag, which has happened more times then I can count!

The applicator is a flat doe foot which covers a lot of territory, but makes precision somewhat complicated. I suggest definitely using a lip liner with this as it will be very difficult to get the outer rim of your lips defined without getting color everywhere. I used a liner and I was happy with the applicator as it just took a few easy swipes to cover my entire mouth. Super simple.

I chose the color Wisteria because I definitely don't have enough purple colors in my collection (cough, cough) and it is the most gorgeous, dark plum shade. It's super pigmented and quite matte, but doesn't entirely dry down, so it's very comfortable to wear. The downside of the mousse aspect is that it is quite thick, so unless you wear the color completely down you can't really touch it up without it becoming a crusty mess. This lip product does not last all day (I'm not sure it was meant to) and wears completely off after eating. I'm fine with that aspect since I'm no stranger to reapplication. My biggest issue with this was, for example, when I drank out of a straw I'd have a weird faded patch in a tiny circle in the center of my lips, which was quite hard to fix since I couldn't reapply the whole lipstick. Instead of wiping off my entire mouth and restarting from scratch, I'd tap a little product onto the area and kind of blend it down with my fingers. This seemed to work well but it's quite a lot of work for a lip product. I'd probably still wear this because it's so pretty, super pigmented, and super affordable, however I'd avoid it on days I had a lunch meeting or needed to look picture perfect.

Overall, I'd say if you're a no fuss type of gal this might not be the product for you, but if you're willing to work with it a little bit you really can't beat the price!

Have you guys ever used these lip mousses before? What're your thoughts? I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! January came and went really quickly, and I can't really say I'm that disappointed. I don't know about you guys, but this girl is ready for some warmer weather, sunshine, and greenery.

My favorites were a mix of old and new and products that I'm sure I'll be loving through spring.
You guys have heard all about this shave balm as a primer and I've been using it off and on for the past couple of years and I like it. It really works and when my skin tends to go crazy oily (like it always does in January for some reason) it is one of the only primers I can use. Also, it's super cheap and you can find it anywhere, 2 major bonuses in my book.
One of my friends gave me this Smashbox BB concealer as the SPF in it made her skin breakout and I was instantly in love. It's so easy with the brush applicator and it really sticks without creasing. It's high coverage, which I prefer and it blends out beautifully. I really have nothing bad to say about this and at $25.00 it's a higher end concealer that doesn't break the bank. You also get a lot of product, I've been using this for months and it's not slowing down. I will definitely purchase this once I'm done with mine.
I have always loved the Real Techniques beauty blender because of the flat end which I feel is just more practical when using to blend out foundation. I was sent this version which combines a unique shape with a flat surface and I, surprisingly, really love it. The shape of it makes it more comfortable to hold then the Real Techniques one with the flat edge that I prefer.
I bought this blush in a set, mainly because that packaging is just so beautiful. I know guys, the packaging, how ridiculous, but I don't expect to be any more practical anytime in the near future so just expect it, okay? It came with a highlight, bronzer, and another blush, all designed to emulate the Hourglass ambient lighting powders. It was super cheap from Ross and I honestly love all the products. They are super smooth and highly pigmented and this blush has been my go-to for the past few months. It's a pretty, glowy peach and just so beautiful on the skin. If you can find the JLB brand in your local Ross I say give it a try, I've been pleasantly surprised!
The last thing I've been loving in January is this book, the Miracle Morning, by Hal Elrod. The hubs and I have been reading this together, as it's been highly recommended to us and we've been loving it. We're not quite finished with it, but it is super motivating and definitely a must-read for those of you who have always struggled with getting down a morning routine.

Those are the things I've been loving in January -- What have you guys been enjoying? Happy February friends! I loved that lipstick so much that whilst boredly perusing Amazon I decided to check out some of their other shades. When I stumbled upon a set of 6 for $6.00 I couldn't resist and quickly stuck them in my shopping cart. The formula on these lipsticks are one of my favorites. They are super long-lasting and really comfortable to wear as far as mattes go. The set I chose was the bold hues set and all of the lipsticks have vitamin E, something my lips are definitely craving this time of year. I loved 5 of the 6 lipstick shades so definitely a great purchase.
Pink is a beautiful bright matte but as I get older, I don't find many occasions where a bright Barbie pink is really appropriate so I don't reach for the color as much as I used to. I will most likely be passing this color along, although the formula is as good as the others.

Latte reminds me a lot of Cappuccino but it's a lot more brown then Cappuccino is. It's literally the perfect nude, and I love a matte nude lipstick. It's one I will definitely get a lot of use out of.

Going back and doing this post I noticed that only 3 of the colors were actually supposed to come in the set I purchased. Melon, Mauve, and Berry were not actually supposed to be in the set I purchased so I'm happy I ended up liking them. Another thing to note, these lipsticks have a floral perfume-y smell to them which doesn't bother me, but the original formula didn't have that same scent, so if that's something that would bother you then maybe pass on these! If you are interested in buying this (or some version of this) set, then you can find them here.

Have you guys tried any of the City Color Matte Lipsticks? What did you think? Happy Wednesday friends! XO

image

Clearly my blog has gotten off to a rocky start. Although I fully intended to blog all last week my year started off with a terrible cold, so c'est la vie and here I am in week two getting my bearings. Now I'm feeling much better and really ready to get my year off the ground so what better way then to start out with my monthly goals? Last month I managed to complete all 3 of my goals. I finished up school early in the month so I was able to stress less (Although my test is this month to get certified), I cooked way more at home then usual and I did a pretty good clean out of my wardrobe so I'm happy about my progress.

This month I want to focus more on goals that will start my year off positive.

1. First I want to write in my gratitude journal every day. I'm currently reading the Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod and he suggests writing in your journal in the morning. I like the idea of starting my day out grateful and so I've been trying to incorporate this into my morning routine. So far, so good. I want to continue this all month so it really becomes a part of my daily routine every morning.

2. Eat breakfast. I've never, ever been a breakfast person, aside from a cup of coffee. I know the studies, I know it's healthy, I know the importance for your mind and body to function better, I've just never had the time. Now that I do, I'm hoping to incorporate a healthy breakfast into my mornings.

3. Read every day. Even a few pages. Even 1 page. I want to get back into daily reading. There's just something about reading everyday that makes me feel sharper and my communication skills better. This might be all mental, but I definitely feel like I function on a higher plane when I'm reading often.

What do you guys have planned for the start of your year? How's January treating you so far? Let me know what your resolutions are, I'd love to hear them! It's common practice that after the indulgences of the holidays we tend to promise ourselves we'll get back to being healthier in the new year. For me, this includes really getting a handle on my diet and one thing I've been wanting to add for quite some time is matcha tea. If you know me, then you know I drink at least a pot of coffee everyday. I'm not talking one of those baby, one person pots. I'm talking those big, 12 cup pots. One thing that's always interested me about matcha tea is that it's supposed to have more caffiene per cup of tea then a cup of coffee. Okay, now we're speaking my language. It's also rich in antioxidants, increases focus, and stimulates metabolism. This one from Green Root Tea only contains organic stone ground Tencha Green Tea. That's literally the only ingredient. If there's one thing I'm definitely into it's organic products, the less ingredients, the better.
Honestly, I never thought I'd be one of those people who put any sort of milk or cream in their tea, but I've found lately that I love the bit of sweetness soy milk gives to it. Honestly, this tea is so good it tastes like a treat, so it's definitely been an easy healthy drink to add to my diet. I'm not going to say I'm ready to replace all of the coffee with this, but I definitely can see decreasing the amount I drink and adding this in place of a few cups.

Have you guys ever tried Matcha tea? What did you think?
A little while back I talked about a SkinMedica set I was using that had a retinol serum in it. It was the first time I'd really used retinol although now that I am worried more about fine lines and wrinkles it's definitely something that I plan I keeping in my routine. I really enjoyed using it so when InstaNatural sent me their retinol moisturizer I was really excited. You know I'm a huge fan of InstaNatural products as they contain lots of great vitamins and natural ingredients in their products. I love the fact that this is a moisturizer; for me I feel like this is my preferred way to use retinol. It's a super thick and creamy moisturizer that's really hydrating and super affordable. It's unscented and for me that's great as sometimes scents can really irritate my skin.
Lucky for me, one of my sweet friends gifted me some things from the line for Christmas and I just had to share because it is beautiful. I mean, the packaging alone makes this collection so swoon-worthy. I was spoiled and was given the makeup bag (so cute!) and 3 lip products.
I love this lippie stix shade in Konichiwa. I am a huge fan of the lippie stix formula, it's one of my absolute favorites. They are super long lasting and super comfortable to wear. This shade is a pretty neutral pink and perfect for everyday.
I wish the camera could pick up how beautiful this shade is in person. It's a lippie stix in the shade Let's Play. It's a satin luxe so it has a sheen to it that is so gorgeous. I wore this Christmas day and it was the perfect pop of playful red. Again, it's super long lasting and I will definitely be wearing this one a lot.
Now I've never been a fan of the Colourpop liquid lipsticks but my friend swears this Satin Lip formula is much more comfortable to wear. This is in the shade Tiny Chum (so cute!) and it's a grey-pink and it is gorgeous. I'm excited to wear this and see how it goes so you may see it in a future favorites.
I love the collection and am impressed by what I've tried so far. Have you guys tried anything from the Colourpop x Hello Kitty range? I hope you guys has a wonderful holiday weekend and a happy start to the new week. XO
Hi friends! It's that time of year again where we sit and reflect on the year that's just passed. I think most of us can admit that 2016 was a whirlwind and a roller coaster, to say the least. So much happened in my year and I can honestly say I'm ready for it to come to a close.

A lot of changes are happening for me as the year comes to an end. The most exciting, but also super scary, is that I'm changing careers! I'm joining my husband in the Real Estate world at the beginning of the year and I am beyond ecstatic. One thing I've definintely learned this year is that time is our greatest commodity, and between my long days and my commute, I've been wasting a lot of my time. It's become impossible for me to live as healthily and happily as I want in my current position so I knew it was time for me to make a change.

While I knew I needed a drastic change to happen it definitely hasn't been an easy decision and is still incredibly bittersweet, even as I'm ready to start a new chapter in life. We are lucky in life to come into contact with so many amazing people, some just in passing and some who become friends. Whether it was my acquaintances who I commuted with or my co-workers who've become family, everyone was incredibly supportive of my decision and the kindness and support I've received restored my belief that the world is full of kind people who truly care about others. As this year comes to a close with so many terrible things going on in the world, I really needed that little boost of faith in humanity and am so very lucky I've gotten the chance to befriend so many wonderful people who have taught me so much.

What does this all mean for the blog? Well my hope is that with my new career comes a lot more time to spend doing the things I love again, including giving my blog some much needed time and attention. As I look back at my blogging year I definitely wish I could have or would have spent a lot more time and effort on it, as I've truly enjoyed blogging and the community that comes with it. To all my friends who have put up with my inconsistency and still came to my blog and showed me so much love, thank you, thank you, thank you. I definitely want 2017 to be a year full of blogging!

I just want to say thank you to each and every one of you who have read a post, commented, or interacted with me on my other social media. You guys are amazing, I'm so happy to be a part of this community, and I wish you all the love and happiness in 2017! They kindly let me chose some makeup to try and I loved it so much I thought I'd share it with you guys.

Some back story on the brand: Maison Jacynthe was founded in September 2014 by actress and producer Jacynthe Rene. The products are all formulated with natural and active ingredients, including antioxidant green coffee and they tout that their makeup line is age-defying, nourishing, and soothing. The products are made with no chemicals and only 100% natural ingredients exist in the line.

I was definitely interested in trying some of the products as I love the idea of zero chemicals going on my face. It's funny that we take the time to make sure our skin care is all natural but never really think about our makeup! While the company is fairly focused in Canada at the moment I know they are branching out to the US, and an English language catalog is in the works. In the meantime, you can find these products at http://maisonjacynthe.ca/en/Product/Catalog/17. They are mid range as far as price goes but for what you're getting as far as ingredients goes, it's a great deal and worth more knowing you can trust the ingredients you're putting on your face!

The first product I chose was a Terracotta in the shade 01 Mattina. I love it for bronzing but it is also the most beautiful transition shade. You know I love my dual use products. These are "refill" packages but you can buy the pan to put it in. I find it's packaged really nice so I just slide it right back into it's cover and it keeps perfectly, without being bulky. You can find it here.

The second product I chose was this beautiful blush in 01 Romeo. It's showing up much brighter in the package photo then it actually is. It's a really beautiful, soft burgundy color. Again, this is another one I've used both on the cheeks and as a shadow and it is gorgeous either way. You can find it here.

Of course I chose a lipstick because I just couldn't help myself. I first want to say that the packaging on this is gorgeous! It's heavy and really good quality. As for the color itself, it's in the shade 03 Garnet. It's a pink with a metallic sheen and it's long-lasting. It seriously lasted ALL day on my lips, I'm incredibly impressed with the quality. You can find it here.

I was incredibly impressed with the brand and I find the quality to be incredible. I love that each product details what's in it and they are all things that are familiar. I definitely will be checking out more from the brand. Thanks to Kim from Maison Jacynthe for reaching out to me about these beautiful products.

I really wish photos could do the colors on this gorgeous pillow justice, they are so bright and beautiful. The other thing, yes the cover comes a bit wrinkled, but once stuffed (like in the first picture) the wrinkles will sort themselves out. I truly love this cover and think it would make an amazing gift for any home decor lover!

What's your favorite home decor gift to give? I hope you all have a great week ahead! XO

I know that my gratefullness is often intertwined with the people in my life I love and care about. Thank you, Marianne, for both creating this tag and tagging me to do it!

The Rules (They're pretty damn simple (Marianne's title, love it!)):

1. Copy and Paste the rules
2. Write a sentence or two about why gratitude and expressing your appreciation of others is important
3. Write a paragraph about one person who's changed your life for the better or that you really appreciate having around and say why you're so grateful for them
4. Tag as many people as you'd like to spread the positivity

I think the importance of spreading our gratitude to others can be related to how good we feel when others express their gratitude for us. When we receive kind words or a simple thank you for caring for others, it means the world to us. In turn, letting others know we appreciate the things they do, from the mundane to the extravagant, can let them know that we love them and are grateful to have them in our lives. Sometimes even expressing gratitude for a simple gesture that comes naturally to a person, like being a great listener, makes them feel great and helps them realize what a wonderful person they are.

Although it's fairly obvious that the person I would choose for this gratitude tag is my husband, the point is to tell the person we are grateful for just how much and why we are grateful for them. From the minute I met my husband he was the funniest, sweetest person I knew. He's consistently pushing me past my comfort zone because he believes in me and knows I need that gentle shove to get things moving sometimes. He's always there to lend a hand, whether it be with my blog or fixing my bike, I know I can count on him to have my back. And have my back he does - I have never known anyone more loyal, supportive, courageous and loving as my husband. He has always pushed me to follow my dreams, whether it be through his own example or through his uncondtional love and support. Also, he feeds me when I'm hangry and loves me when I'm difficult. Enough said.

I generally don't tag people in tags, as I want ALL my friends to do it and nobody to feel excluded, but for the sake of speading some positivity, I tag Cara from Kindly Unspoken, Emelia from Dream Big and Buy the Shoes, and Andrea from Living on Cloud Nine. I chose these ladies because they are always positive and a constant source of inspiration and I would love to see their posts! Please, everyone, feel free to do this tag and if you do it, leave me a link in the comments so we can all go read your post!

Happy Friday friends! XO
